Rear axle swap - which ratio?

Just to be clear
ive got what ford is calling a “Super 8.8”
with a 3.15 ratio and 12 bolts on the cover
attached a couple of pictures to confirm.
All ive heard from sales reps so far is that they don’t have a kit that will work for my truck.
Can anyone comment/confirm the actual axle and diff I have?

You have the 8.8 Super. I’m going to replace my 3.31 8.8 Super with the same type, but it will be a 3.55 E-locker.
It will be an extravagant but necessary move and I’ll do the install myself. This will be about a year out.

9.75 with factory e-locker
You should be able to find a 9.75 with a factory e-locker. My 2013 XLT has one with 3.73s. You'll have to wire something up to control it but that's simple enough. Track width, spring perches and bolt pattern should be the same. Brakes and abs compatibly may be an issue though. You'll definitely need a progammer for the gear ratio change no matter what route you go. Good luck.

2015 is a new axle internally and externally, so would have to be off a 15+ to fit. If you go the axle swap route, then get the 9.75 and be done with it. You will need to have the dealer reprogram the PCM for the gear change.

If you can get a 9.75 out of a wrecking yard 2015+ 5.0 it will.almost be guaranteed to be a 3.73 and Electronic Locking Rear Axle..
I've yet to see a 5.0 that the three didn't coincide.

If that's the case, then, go with a factory aluminum driveshaft; perhaps the one from the donor truck?.
The 'shaft in my truck has surface rust (as all unpainted steel would have) so I know it's not an aluminum piece.

If your truck has a steel driveshaft there's no reason any driveshaft shop can't shorten/lengthen it for a reasonable price aluminum may be more difficult. Buying a new one to fit from Ford isn't cost effective so a donor truck is the best bet if you get lucky enough to get the wheel base/transmission/axle combo right. The axle/driveshaft yokes could be different also though. If I were in your position I'd wait for aftermarket gears to come out. By the time you figure out wheel speed sensor/abs compatibly, base brakes(calipers, pads, etc), and driveshaft you still have to wire the locker up and hope the abs doesn't engage every time you turn with it locked in.
