Default Pro Trailer Back Up System

Newbie here, I received from the dealer different responses. Simple question I purchased a 2020 F150 XLT with that includes the trailer tow package. I dont see the normal Ford F150 brake controller but the sales person is telling me that the Pro Trailer Back up system includes the controller too. I pulled the manual for the pro Trailer back up system and on page 6-7 states “to select the brake effort for the trailer” (please see attachment page) is the salesman correct? I wont tow my R-POD camper without a brake controller, but is this new Pro Trailer back up system dies have the integrated brake controller, versus the separate brake controller that Ford F150 had installed in my previous 2013 F150. TIA

Manual

Are you asking if you have a brake controller? If so, it should look something like this.

Hmm, I thought the tow package got you the controller as above. Are you sure you have a tow package? My 2020 Lariat has the brake controller AND the Pro Trailer backup.

oh yes I have the trailer tow package, even shows on my window sticker, see attachment. No I dont have a brake controller, the dealer is installing one tomorrow. I was told that the Max trailer tow package is the only one that comes with a brake controller on a XLT model, year 2020

A brake controller will be installed and I will be good to go. A max of 10.5k towing capability, you must use a controller for sure. 👍

You're not towing 10,500 pounds or anywhere near that.

Read many of the threads in this section including how to read your payload sticker.

you are correct the 10.5k is the max capability on my Ford F150, right now with my camper, the max I will be towing is 5k.

Glad you are having Dealer install controller, you will be good to go. Now comes the fun of setting up WDH correctly, and the gain with the controller. Come back and ask if you need help, many guys around here really good at helping.

I have a 2020 XLT with the Trailer Tow package. Bought it off the lot last October during an end of model year sale, fortunately before the chip shortage fully bloomed into chaos.
My truck has the Pro Trailer Backup Assist and the TBC. The TBC was a factory option on my sticker, as was the 36 gal fuel tank. Not the ideal way to get all of the towing features, short of Max Tow; then again, I got a truck with pretty much everything I wanted without getting getting caught up in the 2021 factory manufacturing black hole.
