Power source for wench.

Power source for wench.
I have an 18' car trailer that I have mounted a wench too. The trailer itself uses the 7 pinned connector, but would I be able to use the flat four pin connection to power the wench?
The only issue I can really think of is blowing the fuse having the running lights and the wench running on the same circuit. The wench is a badlands 12K from HF if it might be of helpful information.

Presumably you mean winch. Look up wench and you may find it funny!

What is the amp draw of that winch? You will probably find that is far exceeds the fuse size. So you may want to run a separate circuit of adequate size from the battery or install a battery in the trailer and charge it from the 7 pin connector.

It would depend on the size of the winch. If we are talking about a 2500# winch (not wench, that would be a big girl then you could likely get away with running off of the 12 volt line in the 7 pin. Also of note, the 4 pin flat does not have any constant power.
Any bigger and you would certainly need a heavy gauge wire or better yet install a battery to run the winch which charges from the 12 volt line on the 7 pin. That is how mine is set up and it is a small 2500# winch. I take the battery out when not in use as I have other uses for it.

You have other uses for your wench ??
