I would never put a 8' plow on a half ton.

I measured the Fisher HD dropped the front end 1.5" without timbrens. But if you bounced the plow, the truck went all the way down to the bumpstops. It wouldn't have been able to drive on the road. The HD blade is over 600 lbs.

I'm in midcoast Maine.

I always had Fisher plows..was very loyal Mainer and only after trying a Boss plow a customer showed up here with. In one minute you can have it off or on...the hydraulic cylinder pushes it in place. No pushing or shaking the head gear...no chain to lift the plow means no bounce on the road or while plowing......I am having the air dam replaced on Wed.
I don't go off roading with my truck. So if the Boss plow mount sits lower that's just the way it is. The benefits are great.

They sell the Boss plows at work. Fisher outsells them big time. Probably a lot of it is loyalty to Fisher since they are made in Rockland. That's part of why I'm getting one. I never have much trouble getting MM2 on or off. The HT is cylinder lift, not chain. The no bounce is nice, but on the other hand, the chain lift lets you stack the snow up higher.

The air dam has to be cut up so much to clear the push plates, it usually ends up getting torn off while plowing anyway. I'm just leaving it off.

Late to the party here, I just discovered this thread. Great info being shared. I decided to go with a Fisher SD mainly because I have a Fisher dealer a few miles from my house though I have heard great things about BOSS. Only a couple dealers would install the SD since its not officially listed on fisher's ematch but since its only 60 lbs more and better built it came highly recommended. I have not heard one good thing about the HT.

It is getting installed on Friday. The dealer that is installing the plow really discouraged me from going with Timbrens until I see how the truck handles the SD. He claims the front will only drop an inch and the Timbrens will affect the ride of the truck. I still think I will put some on in the future just for the extra support during the plowing. Stainless Man, do you notice any difference with Timbrens without the plow on? I heard there is no difference when not under load.

I will post the info once its installed.

I've had no issues with the Timbrens.....the ride is still good...I had them on my 2010 also....drove to Buffalo and back with it....my '94 had big coil springs up front and I installed air bags inside the coils....those worked great too..I'm not a engineer or a 'vehicle technician'.....but I have common sense...the half ton is not a 3/4 ton....and the suspension is not made to handle the extra weight of a plow..(just my opinion)...so anything I can do to help save the suspension will save me big money in repair cost down the road...so 'beefing' up the suspension some only makes sense to me.

So I found out today I can get a Boss HTX for cost at work. Fisher HT or SD I pay full retail. It's an $1100 difference. That just might be enough to get me to buy Boss. I want to support products made here in Maine and would without a doubt for a couple hundred more, but $1100 more really has me thinking about it. I'm reading up on the HTX now.

My Boss 7 1/2' SD was $4400. installed two yrs ago in Portland. I checked before I bought my 2015 and I think the HTX was $100. or $200. less then the SD was two yrs ago.

Had the air dam(not sure of the correct part name) reinstalled yesterday. Only had to cut out a couple pcs. Bolted right back in place.

Looks good. I probably will just leave the air dam off, I'd have to see how much is cut in person. All the super duty ones I've seen cut at work end up getting torn off.

I like that the Boss plow frame allows you to keep the tow hooks. I end up using them a lot to pull things around the yard and cars out of the snow or ditch. I also like how the Boss plow frame goes back to the crossmember under the engine. I think that helps to spread the load better. The Fisher plates just bolt on the end of the framerails.

I think I might get the Boss HTX after all, dealer cost is significantly lower that what you posted and I can install it at work for free. It's really a good deal for me.

I'm a true yankee Mainer with family being in Maine since 1600's...I am certainly loyal to Maine company's. But one in person demo of the Boss plow off and on...I was sold. If I ever bought a 3/4 ton or larger truck...I'd get the Boss 'V'...
You'll love it.
