Pick up camper or pull behind?

I've been a RVer since 1995, and had a 31' travel trailer for many years. Now, we have a F250 diesel towing a mid size 11k lb. fifth wheel with 4 slides.
But if I was going to start out today, I'd be looking to go with a 28' travel trailer with a big slide. They have plenty of room, and they're 1/2 ton towable if properly equipped. My brand is Grand Design, and they have a full line of travel trailers and fifth wheels that are 1/2 ton towable.
I suggest spending the money for a premium weight distributing hitch comparable to a Hensley or Blue Ox. I would avoid a generic WDH with a friction sway control.
