Default Payload question/observation

2019 f150 5.0 7000 GVWR 4WD SC

Yellow Sticker states 1823lbs combined wt of cargo and occupants.
Ford Website under the specifics of my truck shows 2020lbs for payload.

Please advise what I may be missing here which may explain the apparent
difference between the two numbers above, 1823 vrs 2020 with regard to payload.
No aftermarket anything, all stock.

All comments and experience are appreciated.

Default Options

The higher number listed on the site would be the maximum for that "base configuration" with no options. Any options added to your truck when you ordered will likely decrease that as they add weight to the vehicle.

Also, anything you added after purchase will reduce it further from what's on the door sticker. The best thing to do is to get it weighed with a full load of fuel. Then you'll know how much is on each axle and how much payload you can add (and where) to not exceed front, rear, or total vehicle weight.

Read the fine print on Ford's website. Also, your owner's manual.

chimmike: I did that, which I indicated in my post. I'd would appreciate any specific info that you may have to add that I have not already mentioned.
The owners handbook in the glovebox is printed by the thousands and never contains specific information about the specific VIN that it
is in, because, obviously, that info is pertinent to the specific specifications and equipment of the exact VIN in question. This is why I
provided to pertinent and necessary info (see my original post) that would be required for the reader to give an educated response.
I appreciate 2018LLB's response, it was helpful. Anyone can say "read the fine print.....also owner's manual" that provides no help
at all. If I could have found the answer in the "fine print" or the "owners manual" I would have never asked the question to start with.
If you can't make a meaningful contribution, then don't make one at all.

He is probably just grumpy because this same question gets asked around here 1000 times a day and simply scrolling down the list of threads in the tow/haul section probably would have revealed multiple threads where it had already been answered.

It was on the website something to the affect regarding how your payload varies with options.

Based on that, I guestimated my payload at ~2,500lbs...I actually got 2,475lbs.

I had to start my research on a truck from the very basic, from all acronyms, from what LT, FX4, GVWR, GCWR, RAWR, rear end ratios, trim levels, cab types, meaning, etc...and then I has to do the same with travel trailers.

And I also had to research above and.beyond the advice of those trying to tell me my truck couldn't handle my trailer, but I stood on my research and my abilities to successfully navigate among the unknown.

You came up short on your basic research...that was on you. 😊

If you read more of the threads in this section, you'll better understand that your payload is no longer 1,823 pounds. You need to fill your truck with fuel at a CAT scale location, and weigh it and do the math. In your specs for your truck, you list K&N Air, DU-HA storage, OEM Wheel Liners, Leer Trilogy X2T Tonneaux, DZ Tailgate Dampener. Yet you say "no aftermarket anything, all stock. But it's not... Each of those items added weight to your truck, and reduce your payload (if the OEM wheelliners came with the truck from the factory, they are included, but if added by the dealer or you, they are not).

If all those items, plus the stuff you carry in your truck normally, adds up to say 300 pounds, then your payload is down to 1,523 pounds. For every 100 pounds you reduce payload, you lose 769 pounds of trailering capability assuming 13% tongue weight.
