Additionally, the payload value is for weight in the bed directed down on the frame. With the camper, and bike, although exerting down force on the frame, it is also creating torque that lifts the front of the frame upward. Add to this the bouncing while going over bumps, and the torque of the rear axle pushing up on the leaf springs, perhaps caused this frame to weaken, then bend. JMHO

if thats the no options base weight 1600 seems pretty damn easy to add on. I glanced at their website and he's got the optional roof rack thing, awnings, support legs in the back, the base weight doesn't include the optional AC unit or generator then factor in clean water, gray water, waste water, food, dishes, utensils, personal crap and an ebike off the back

Absolutely. Dry weight doesn’t count propane, batteries, fresh water, any gray/black water, supplies, electric bike, etc. My camper is loaded with 1200 pounds of gear for 2 people and that’s with no fresh water. Add another 500lbs for 60 gallons of fresh water.

This guy did 25000 miles, some of which was offroad, with >1000 lbs over his payload capacity.

You did 3 miles on paved surfaces with maybe a few hundred lbs over your payload assuming you got 1 ton of pellets.

So at what weight should it fail then? There have been postings here of other trucks, Fords and others, bending their frames that were overloaded. So it does happen.

Have you lost your mind? You can't make a claim and post nothing to back it up! End of story.

If you overloaded that 3500 by 3000 lbs, but it was all in the bed and not hanging 5 feet in back, it would handle that.

I've put 5000 lbs in a 2500 a few times, but it was all in the bed moved as far forward as possible.
