LOL. Just 20 years ago, for a premium of $25,000, you could upgrade your Cobra to a Cobra R, and still have less power than the eco.

Question... When looking at the builds for a 250 4x2 7.3L 3.55 axle, I see that a 10,000/9,900 GVWR Package can be added on F-250. Includes: • 9,900 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (F-250 SRW). Is this something that should be checked or is the GVWR already high? In some forum I saw not to check this but did not inquire as to why.

This document shows you the GVWR based on configuration, starts on page 23. The triggers are selecting the 10400 GVWR upgrade, or the Trailer Tow Package.

As the superduties are more workhorse oriented, I'd bet they are oriented towards the higher GVWR and tow package being standard, and you have to opt out of it. I'd ask around for someone that has ordered one and got it in already to confirm.

I've heard it described as an artificial number to be a work around for vehicle registration costs. But that's just internet rumor, you'll need to drill down on your own to get the correct answer.

In some states, a vehicle over 10k lbs is considered commercial and has much higher registration/insurance costs regardless if it's owned and operated by a private party. Ford gives you the option of stickering it at 9900 lbs GVWR or over 10k lbs. The truck is the same, but the sticker will show the option you chose, depending on where you need to register it.

Can someone post a pix of their hitch/bumper tag? I'm curious what the tow rating is for the 150 without the max tow package. I'm guessing ~7,000#. To get a pix of it you have to lay on your back under the bumper hitch. It looks like this

I'm a RVer, and have had 20 years experience towing travel trailers. I now have an older F250 diesel and a 2020 F150 2.7. We have a Grand Design Reflection 36' 4 slide bunk house fifth wheel trailer with the outside kitchen with a dry weight of 11,000 lbs..

You're looking at very short travel trailers, and they're all relatively lightweights @ 4500-5000 lbs. (dry weight.) I caution you that those that purchase that size trailer will very, very often trade for bigger travel trailers or fifth wheel trailers. Then they've got to buy bigger trucks to tow them. Also, avoid any aluminum sided travel trailer.

Have you considered going with a Imagine fiberglass sided travel trailer in the 2500 series weighing 6000-7500 lbs.dry. They're roomy enough to where you might not want to upgrade anytime soon. A F150 with the RV and Max Tow package is sufficient to handle them. Any larger and a 3/4 ton or 1 ton SRW truck would be warranted.

Note: My next door neighbor took delivery of a new F250 XLT crew cab 4x4 with the 6.2 motor last week. It took 3 months for it to come in after he ordered it. It's plenty nice, and he's switching out the cloth interior for leather next week.

Bamaman, In post #12 I mentioned what we are looking for. We are really in the Autumn of our camping life. No big family, only the two of us. Those you mentioned will stretch the hitch max weight rating when a heavy WDH is included. This will be a replacement for the 41' 5r we sold along with our 3500 Ram dually last April. Thought we would not camp again as doing the VRBO thing is working nicely. DW wishes to get back into the camping thing and we thought the Aviator would pull the campers we were looking at (6,700# towing). Not a reality when we consider the hitch weight. Therefore the truck hunt. Don't really want the ride of a 250 so ordered the nicely equipped 150 and waiting to see the payload when it comes in.I'm thinking even with a heavy WDH, it should not have an overly high hitch weight, so not wanting to go bigger than the campers listed in post #12. One of the deciding factors in getting a small camper is that we have secured an RV site along with ~50 other amateur astronomers on the centerline of the April 8 2024 eclipse. A spot where the weather history is the best over the full eclipse path. It's what we do.
I feel like I know you from one of the RV or turbo diesel forums?https://shop.ford.com/configure/f150...7P.XL9.U71.%5D

You would want to add the 9,900 gvwr package if you live in a state that slaps commerical plates on trucks at or above 10,000 gvwr.
Where I live, registration costs are based on gvwr but commercial plates only apply to vehicles that are actually used commercially. But like I said the cost still goes up based on gvwr, which is one of the reasons to own a regular cab 2wd truck as the gvwr is low at 6,100.
