Default Is my controller bad?

Just installed an oem brake controller. Enabled with forscan. With no trailer I can adjust gain but when I press the slider nothing appears. I thought it would say no trailer connected or something. Is my unit bad or is this how it’s supposed to be until a trailer is connected?

You may have to take it to a dealer to have it properly programmed. Even disconnected, it should read no trailer when actuated.

There have been problems with off brand controllers. Is the one you bought a genuine Ford controller?

It’s off brand. I ordered a different brand and am sending this one back. If that doesn’t work I’ll cough up the coin for a Ford product.

thank you all
