Default mirror extensions

Does anyone have an opinion on aftermarket slip on (over existing) mirror extensions for towing? 2008 f150 Lariat. I tow at least every 2 months but once a month most of the time shorter distances for now.

My opinion is that they’re no where near as good as actual tow mirrors, but I suppose better than nothing at all.

I have slip on extensions, and find them perfectly fine. I only use them 6-8x a year pulling a 23" travel trailer, and the extra extension is all I need to see someone in the lanes. One reason I ordered my truck was so I didn't have to look at the tow mirrors most order with maxtow. I use these, obviously search for your year

I have these as well.

my last trailer, tow mirrors didn’t add much but was a skinnier camper.

new camper is 8ft wide. I’ve only towed it once with the snap on mirrors but made a big difference. I also have trailer side and rear view mirrors that stay on when driving…I monitor via a 5 inch screen on my dash

Before buying the F-150, I towed our MiniLite camper with our 2019 Ranger. I used
these clip on mirrors these clip on mirrors
which worked very well. When I purchased them 3 years ago, some commenters had reported they would blow off at highway speeds when a semi was passing. I never had that problem but also did not tow over 60mph. With the 2018 F-150, the stock mirrors are more than satisfactory for towing the camper.

I guess it depends on the camper. If you have a skinny 7’ wide camper, you’re probably fine. Ours is 8’ wide and actual tow mirrors made a night and day difference.

my old camper (apex nano 208bhs) says it’s 7’5” and when I upgraded to tow mirrors, I was disappointed as it didn’t add anything really…I was expecting a lot.

my new camper says it 8’ wide. I also think the actual camper is longer whereas the frames are the same length…meaning the area is closer to the truck and i can’t see anything with my regular mirrors. Shocked 6 inches makes that big of a difference (that’s what she said) but now have the mirror extensions and they help a lot. I also love the cameras.

Yeah that little bit of width is a lot more than it seems.

To me, it’s almost more about that the lower convex glass on the tow mirrors does. I can see from the rear of my camper all the way up to my front door handle and about two lanes over on either side.

With my stock mirrors, sure, I could see down the drivers side of the camper, but not the passenger side, and I couldn’t see much of the next lane over.

This is my expense driving 3000 round trip drives on busy interstates. The tow mirrors add a lot more than a slip on can. But it’s all about what works for each situation.

I've used these for a few years on my ‘14 and have been happy with them. Keep them stored with the WDH on the TT when I don’t need em and it only takes a few minutes to install before hooking the truck up. Been thinking about adding a backup camera on the trailer as well to round everything up.

Thought I'd posted a response to this thread. I have the K source amazon mirror extension and the issue I have with them is that the extension's is not horizontal and is flat not convex.

That and if there is any ice over the stock mirror, they won't fit. I will however continue to use them, but have gone without them from time to time without regrets.

The factory set up looks like its more useful but how often do you see an F150 with factory tow mirrors?
