Default L Track Install Question

How would you guys install this? Just need one 4' section for the front of the bed. I'd probably use 1 or 2 rings in order to tie down 2 motorcycles in the bed so no crossing of the straps. The truck is a 2020 F-150, so aluminum bed. I’m just concerned with getting a nut on the backside with clearance. Or, if a self tapping screw would suffice into the front portion of the bed.

Thanks.

No, screwing to the sheet metal (esp. Aluminum) would not result in the normal load capacity. The strength comes from the washers on the other side of the bedwall. It's not difficult to remove (or loosen) the bed bolts & slide the bed back slightly.

Something like this may work, this is just am example, may want larger and metric size:

100 Pcs 1/4-20 Aluminum Flange Nutserts Rivet Nut, UNC Flat Head Rivnut Threaded Insert
Amazon Amazon

I use them, best if you have the tool to set them. I have not used them on our AL body trucks. Perhaps some googling to see if they are adequate

my experience has been best with “never” needing to remove the fastener once torqued. They sometime will lose their grip and spin with repeated screwing and unscrewing

Thanks for the tips. I doubt moving the bed is something I want to try. Maybe that tie down system isn’t quite what I’m looking for then.

Thanks.
