For kayaks, SUPs, etc. - T-Bone Bed Extender
For those of you who use your truck to haul kayaks, SUPs, surfboards, etc., I thought you might be interested in this product. Biggest advantage it has is that it's curved so you don't drag it on the pavement when entering/exiting ramps, steep driveways, etc.

Just purchased the lime green T-Bone Bed Extender. I got it from Austin Kayak. Free shipping plus 15% off for signing up for their newsletter. Can't wait to try it out with my Hobie Revo 16.

How "Legal" is it to have that much Kayak hanging out the rear end of the truck?
My wife wants me to haul 2 Kayaks to vacation on a lake 4 hours north of home. I have a 6.5' bed. Not sure how long the borrowed kayak is but I appears to be well over twice the length of my bed!

Good question, 1972 Pantera. I am not sure to be honest. I believe cargo can stick out 6 ft beyond the end of the vehicle here in MD. The law is different state by state. But I have considered it since my kayak is 16 ft long. Either way, I think I'll keep the t-bone. I just tried it out on Sat and it works great for kayaks, SUP boards, lumber, etc. I got it for ~$160 and I think it was worth it for the added hauling flexibility.

California:
4 feet without a red flag.
Max overhang 2/3rds wheelbase past point of last support. For my truck, that would be 97 inches. I've actually done that once. Only once, and only for 2 miles from steel yard to home.
