yeah well, unfortunately the speed limits here are 70-80 mph and winds like that are common. Going slower than 55 mph on a flat section of 80 mph road is asking for trouble.

I might have missed it but what is the GVWR of the trailer the OP is considering? Based on the dry weight I’m guessing it’s in the 7-8k range?

It's absolutely not. Doesn't matter if you're going 45 or 65, someone hitting you is going to tear your **** up and insurance is going to have to replace it. The only person asking for trouble is the one so out of touch with their surroundings they don't notice they are approaching another road user.

But that's completely irrelevant as the issue is overheating and you have the power to decide to not drive at 55mph in a 30mph headwind if you don't want it to occur. Blaming overheating on a potential crash caused by other drivers does not compute.
