Default Hitch question

Is there a weight distributing sway control hitch that doesn't need to have parts disconnected when backing?

It looks like twin cams and friction type you need to disconnect some of the parts to back into a site.

Blue Ox Sway Pro. Simple to set up and use, I am sure the other users who use the Blue Ox will agree.

I don't know about the Reese dual cam or Equalizer, but I am pretty sure the Husky Centerline does need to be disconnected.

The Equal-i-zer hitch does not need to be disconnected when backing up.

The Reese Strait Line depends. If the turning angles aren't sharp it can be left on but it's best to just take them off in case. If turning angles are sharp or you're going over bumps or dips, it's recommended to disengage the spring bars.

It's simple to take the bars off and be safe. Just make sure you don't drag the cams on the ground, just chain them up as if the bars were engaged.

I've backed into some very tight and nasty places with my RV trailer and Reese Straight Line. I've never had to disconnect anything and never had a problem.

I use the older style Blue Ox and it has exceeded all of my expectations. It is very simple to hook up, has very few moving parts, does not need to be disconnected and is also very quiet. The older ones are more adjustable and to me are more desirable. Both can be found for around $600.00. I should also add that I am towing 6000lbs and that my original load bars were rated at 750lb but they bent after 3 years worth of service. I am now using the 1500lb bar and they works great.

The only time I disconnect the Blue Ox sway pro I have is when we are ready to level it off and get to drinking!
