Default Hitch Mounted Mud Flaps

So I've been thinking that I need to get some protection for my TT and have a few thoughts.

I like the Rock Tamer idea but I'm too cheap to pay that much and I'm handy with a welder so I'll fab my own.

Debating on the rubber flap or skirt flap as to what's better. The skirt flap seams like it'll have gaps when moving from the air flow but the rubber flap looks like rock will hit and bounce around a bit. Opinions??

Do I go with the width of the truck or stretch them out to the width of the trailer?

Any ideas from the masses??

like you.. I was cheap...lol....
so far I like the setup.. the rock/debris ..seem to roll off and under the trailer.. have yet to hear any thing hit the metal front on the trailer..

side note...yes they hang centered now...
added pic of the mounting to the hitch....square tube to fit hitch with bolt.. angle to hang flaps(1 ton mud flaps)

I bought big rig mudflaps from a local truck shop for $20 a piece and they were 24" wide and 30" tall.

That means you could buy 2 and have wide coverage of 4' or add a third and get 6'.

Very inexpensive route to go. They are tall, wide and 1/4 thick. Add a piece of 1" square tube and another piece to fit over your receiver and you have a good set up for cheap.

I did the same as above. I found them slightly cheaper and then just bought aluminum angle and the necessary hardware. I built it for towing my boat and didn't want to have to worry about it rusting, etc. All in I'm less than $100 and it works great. I bolted it to my hitch so I just pull the hitch pin and it comes off w/ the hitch.
