Default Help with Towing Capacity

Hi all! I have a 2019 4x4 5L V8 SCREW with HDPP (7850 GVWR). I've been looking up towing figures in the guides that Ford provides, but I've found two separate guides and it's causing me some confusion. I know that with the HDPP I have the 3.73 axle ratio. In one guide, it shows that I have a towing capacity of 11,600 (last page). However, in another guide (p.18), it shows I have either 10,700 or 11,500 depending on whether I have a 16,300 or 16,900 GCWR. I guess really it comes down to the second guide as the 100 pound difference in maximums between the two guides isn't that significant. But then, how do I know my GCWR? I'm assuming (dangerous, I know) that I have the higher GCWR since I have the 7850 GVWR package...which is the max, I believe. Can anyone help me out? Am I correct in my thinking?

I'm looking at upgrading our travel trailer, and I want to be within specs. Looking at an Imagine 2910BH, which has an unloaded tongue weight of 720 and GVWR of 8,995. My payload capacity is 2,455...so should fine there even if fully loaded. But I'd like to keep my trailer weight at less than 80% maximum. The other thing I'm "iffy" on is the length of the trailer...which is just under 34 feet. I'd prefer something shorter, but with 4 kids it's hard to do. Any thoughts on towing something this size with the F150 HDPP?

I believe your gcwr is 16,300 and trailer is 10,700. This is from the 2019 Ford towing and rv guide. There is a footnote for the 16,300 that notes it is with the hdpp. Bill C

Since you currently have a TT you don't have to use the GVWR of the future trailer because that is worst case. Instead, you can weigh your current trailer and see how much stuff you've added from its listed "dry weight". Use that number to see what your new trailer will really weigh.

Had I listened to the well-intended but MISINFORMED advise of using the TT GVWR I'd be doing calculations on a 7700lb trailer rather than the real weight (cat scaled) of a 6500lb trailer.

That tongue weight is laughable. You want to be 12 to 15%. 9,000 pound trailer 1,080 - 1,350. Add 100 pound wdh a d you could be right at the hitch limit, read the label on it.

I have a 2018 4x4 5L V8 SCREW, and a 2021 26' Keystone (bumper pull) at 7k lbs and I'm not sure I would go any heavier/longer.

https://www.f150forum.com/f82/what-y...max-tow-519212 I did find this thread, so you can read a bit and see if it helps.

Two 20lb tanks and a battery are going to add 120lb to the tongue, putting it just under 12%. Main carriage storage is right behind it, so I'm sure this trailer is typically right at 13% tongue for most owners.

Loaded out, it's up there pushing the limits of the truck, what I'd call the end of the towable range. 32ft of siding, but has a rounded, back-sloping nose, so effectively it's probably 31'. Hitch weight near max. Trailer weight near 80% of what most of the lighter trucks are rated. Frontal area: well beyond Ford's recommendation.
