HD Payload Package
Building out a new truck. Want the HD PL package. which I believe requires me to get the long WB and 8' box. That's is not problem.
So with a XLT Supercab, 3.5L Eco, Max Tow and HD PL package on long WB and 8' box rig, how much more payload will I have over stock truck?

What a loaded ?
My answer is not much, lol
I've seen non-HDPP trucks with low 2000 and a truck like you want with mid 2000!!!!!!
You getting 4 X 4 this will impact the payload?

The HD package adds 800lb to your GVWR... so theoretically it adds 800lb payload. However, the HD comes with a thicker frame, stronger rear axle, etc which eats up some of the 800lb.
When it’s all said and done you’re about 600lb more payload.

No problem. My lariat HD enters the Kansas City production line Monday! I went “fully loaded” which is basically a Lariat 500a with a few a la carte options like backup camera, my sync touch, etc. I expect my payload to be 2450Lb. Most Lariats are 501 or 502 packages and are well under 1800lb payload. I’ve seen as low as 1400.

About 600 to 740 pounds more payload depending on what non-HDPP tow package you choose as your comparator (assuming all other options besides tow package and gas tank size are identical). A truck with "max tow" is probably only about 60 pounds lighter but has a GVWR that is 800 pounds lighter. Only differences are the HDPP has heavier coil springs in front, a heavier leaf pack in the rear, a thicker axle tube, and part of the frame is thicker. On the other end of the spectrum, if you compare to a truck with no tow package and the small gas tank you'll probably have less than 600 pounds more payload. However, the gas tank effect is a bit misleading. Any truck with the 36 gallon tank can run the 24 gallons of the standard tank and gain nearly 100 pounds of payload over the yellow sticker because the yellow sticker includes a full tank of gas. The yellow sticker is not your legal payload. It's just to inform the customer. The GVWR is what you can't exceed so by having less gas you increase payload.
If you have any question about having enough payload without HDPP, get the HDPP. In most cases you wont have as much payload as you think you'll get with non-HDPP or HDPP trucks. And most of us underestimate the weight of all the stuff we carry with our trucks.

Here’s a perfect example about why I ordered a HDPP...
took my xlt to thr dump today to dump yard refuse. Weighed the truck on the way out empty... 5840lb. 7050 GVWR. Payload sticker is 1750#!
I had 1/2 tank fuel (36g), Wife, 1 son, 2 car seats, and all the normal things I keep in my truck. 500# of crap! Useable payload is 1200lb!!
Cant wait for my HDPP to come!!!
