Good Article on 1/2 vs 3/4 Towing

My Car has a 6000lbs towing limit and my TT is at 5400lbs, so no Sr., I'm not above the limit and you are assuming a lot of things.
I did adjust the set up of my WDH according with his recommendation and I did put better tires though and this is what I'm talking about when I say I used his recommendations.
As for safety, I have premium suspension, premium brakes, 10 airbags, etc and I bet with anyone that towing a TT like mine I can stop faster than any 3/4 ton towing the same trailer.

The funny thing about minivans is they have epic payloads since they are meant to carry 8 people. If I put 8 healthy dudes in my truck I would probably be over my payload capacity or very close. If you are in an odessey with 2 adults and 2 kids I bet you have a lot of payload and gcwr left over.

It's really a shame that they don't sell OEM HD packages for Minivans...

Bulls***! A Honda Odyssey has a 1500# payload and 3500# towing capacity. No one should tow a 10K trailer with one, ever. If you do, your an idiot!
We use Odysseys as company vehicles and with 2 UPS and battery packs the bumper is on the ground and the axle is hitting the bump stops. That's only 600 pounds of equipment.
It doesn't matter How much you modify the suspension, it was never intended to tow a 10K trailer, period! Doing so is illegal and you deserve the huge fines by doing so.
I Guarantee you my F150 WILL stop faster than any "car" can pulling the same trailers. Unibodies are not stronger than body on frame trucks, and if you believe that I have a bridge to sell you. The only way to make a Unibody able to pull a heavy trailer is to add a subframe to distribute the load across the entire structure.

The videos in the link above tend to support the OP article with the caveat that the tow vehicle be properly set up. I found the truck videos with P-rated and LT tires to be really telling. If you go to the FAQ of the site, they can be contacted for advice.
