I finally made my first camping trip with the new truck and camper (3,300 Lbs.) setup a 3 - 4 hour trip with the first hour getting through the major metro urban sprawl traffic, then I towed at 65 MPH using 87 octane gas, as the terrain is mostly flat with a few minor inclines. With the bed full of camping supplies and 3 people, I was pleased to get 14.1 MPG. When the truck is empty and not towing I am in the 16-18 MPG range with the thirsty 5L. The tow haul mode worked well. It was boarder line hot, so I got to test out the camper AC. We had a nice full hookup sight at Daingerfield State Park, TX. A photo from our morning hike.

 

Looks like a great park to camp. Glad you enjoyed it. We throw a canoe I got cheap off facebook on top of the truck, comes in handy for lakes like this.

 

Thanks. Good point the 27' camper trailer has a roof rack on it that is plenty long for a canoe.
