We all miss the V8 rumble, lol. but as you alluded too the torque from these DI Turbo motors is epic and makes it irrelevant to most people.

I honestly wouldnt expect a current(2015-2018) supercrew 3.5 Ecoboost to have less than 1400 lbs of payload since they all have 7000/7050 lb GVWRs. 1400 lbs would be a fully loaded platinum.

An XLT supercab will be well above that. I would guestimate 1800-1900 lbs. I saw an STX package 4x4 supercab the other day that was like 2050 lbs.

If you want a Lariat, stick to the 500a or 501a, and limited options, no sunroof, no FX4 package, etc., and get a 36 gallon tank with Max tow, or Towing package(varies by engine I think). Browse the cars.com and autotrader, there should be links to window stickers. When you find a couple you are interested in, give the dealer a call and ask them to get the information off the payload sticker, if they say they can get it off the invoice, hang up, they are too lazy to work with you.

This should get you into the right truck with enough payload for your trailer, and then some.

Not at all. Do I love the sound of a throaty V8? Absolutely. But in a decision of what is more important to me between sound and actual performance, the performance will win every time. It could sound like a Honda Civic for all I care. If that's all anyone has on me to bust my chops, then I'm ok with it.

The longer you spend in your vehicle, the more trim packages matter. 8hr trip is more manageable with things like power stations (for charging electronics), satellite radio, leather seats, ect
