Most 3/4 ton trucks don't even have 3200 lbs payload on that brochure! The F150 you buy won't be in Ford's limits for a 5th wheel.

My 2017 max tow F150 Lariat FX4 has 1,574 lbs payload. My friend's 2017 Tundra 1794 Edition only has 1,190 lbs payload. I learned I should have just bought a 1-ton SRW.

In my limited 2 truck purchase experience, neither salesman had any idea what the payload was or where to find it on the specific truck I was looking at.

For reference, a modestly equipped (XLT) non-HDPP will have approximately 1800-2000 lbs of payload. 500-700 lbs more if you can find, or order an HDPP
That 3200/3220 number being bandied about isn't correct either. A 2018 HDPP optioned truck i.e. has a theoretical max payload of 2850#, so not even close. Non HDPP trucks max GVWR is 7050# while an HDPP truck is 7850# you do the math from there.

There is a guy on this site that has a yellow sticker weight over 3000 pounds. I think the max spec from Ford is accurate.

I recall that and even he thought it was not only a joke but an error on Ford's part. The brochure and tow guide are buried in my computer and I don't care to dig them up now. I will add this I weighed my truck when I first got it with me, my 63# Irish Setter and a full gas tank and came up with 5420#. 7850# - 5420= 2430# and the sticker payload is 2461# so I'm sticking to my guns on that one.

Based on your numbers, your yellow sticker is too low? Why does this make you believe the max of ~3200 is incorrect? Do you have a crew cab? The ~3200 is for a reg cab xl no options. I don't get your argument.

Nice payload and if it was a 4x2 you'd likely hit that 3200lb number

Hey that's mine.
I tried to buy an XL 2x4 RCLB with the 3200lb payload off a lot in Niagara falls but the sales scum was a ***** and thought he had me over a barrel.
So I bought the XLT 4x4 RCLB at a another shop and by receiving the true value of my trade in ( which the first guy lowballed me by $6000 )
I basically paid the same price and the much nicer package makes up for the loss of 150lb payload.
I wanted to buy off a lot as it was February the plague was taking off.
I had to explain my needs to sales guys correcting them over and over that no that truck will not meet my needs I need payload not towing cap.
Finally had to search it out on line myself for hours.
I found only 2 trucks in Ontario that met my requirements.
It's unfortunate that some people don't grasp the need to research what they really require, often they don't understand the math that's involved in the truck trailer set up.
and salesmen are only to happy to take advantage of this.

Thanks for pointing out that payload capacity and towing capacity/capabilities are two completely different concepts. Most of the Internet can’t differentiate between the two.

Yeah, sadly, I was one of those guys. While I was able to make it all work out and stay in limits (though basically at max gvwr and max rear axle) it has been a lot of work and anxiety. TBH though, I really like the 3.5l and did not want to get another F250...so even if I know more at the time of purchase not sure what I would have done!
