Effects of Lowering on Tow Capacity
Hi All.
I am looking to lower a 2018 F-150 Platinum 4x4 but I also need to tow a boat and trailer at times (4-5 times per summer). How would lowering the vehicle be affected by a 3/1" (or so) drop on a 3.5L Ecoboost engine?
If anyone has some info about the effects of larger wheels/lower profile tires and their effect on towing when used in conjunction with lowering I'd appreciate that as well!
Thanks.

I wouldn't think lowering would be much of an issue as long as you keep the truck from bouncing off the bump stops. It might even be a good thing from a stability standpoint.
I would also think that lower profile tires might help. The latest tow ratings for the 2018's state that you can only hit the maximum ratings with 20" wheels. I am guessing this is because they have a shorter sidewall and less flex. Just make sure whatever tires you have are rated for the weight and properly inflated.

Ford Performance has a 1.5" - 2.5" lowering kit for your truck that will not impact any ratings or warranty. Mine arrives today.

How much are the Ford kits?
This is an option I've been thinking about a bit and as much as I like the height of my truck I honestly don't know if it really needs to be that high. On the flip side I surely don't want it too low so the Ford kit suits the bill. Mind if I ask how much this Ford kit cost as I'm sure prices will vary from place to place.

EDIT: Make sure you get the new kit M-3000-H4A . The older part number has an interference issue on some 2018 trucks. That is why they discontinued for a while and then came out with a new kit.

Before/After pics.
Price hovers around 400. I paid 385 shipped off ebay. Don't forget to add in cost for install, alignment, and a camber kit for the alignment.

Happy to, however, on a business trip right now and don't know when I can install. There was a thread on the 2105 up forum that had several pics. Basically looks like a 2wd with a couple bags of cement in the back.
