Drop hitch length
My trailer is putting right around 500lbs on the ball, no WDH (yes I know I’m at the limit, trailer doesn’t allow for WDW) This will be my last year with this trailer. My driveway has a steep approach so when I back in if there’s anything in the bed I bottom out the bottom of the tongue jack. I’m we’ll within my payload specs. My tailgate doesn’t open with the trailer hooked up so I’m either dropping the trailer, unloading coolers and what not or trying to unload over the side of the bed. I can cut a little off the bottom of the tongue jack but would rather not since I won’t be owning it much longer, don’t want to mess with air bags. Trailer seems nice and level with a 6” drop hitch. My question is would going to a 5” drop really give me an extra inch or with the way the rear suspension works could be be less, like a half inch? A half inch would probably be perfect, 1 inch makes me kinda worried the trailer won’t be level. Probably only have like 200lbs in the bed so we are talking a really fine line of clearing or not clearing the driveway. With the trailer hooked up and coolers in the bed on level ground I only have about 2 inches of sag in the rear and zero rise in the front
