That's an F450, most likely over 8000lb from the factory. With an F250 bed added, can be as much as 9,000lbs. He said the trailer is HD, that should put it around 3,000lb, so potentially 12,000lbs total. Not a light duty tow.
True but seeing how they didn't feel comfortable with the load and had to stay below 55 it seemed a little dangerous to me. It also looked like the trucks tires were right at the edge of the trailer. I imagine if they lost the lift and tires and added a WDH it would of gone a lot smoother. I enjoy their channel by the way.
Guy was towing it with a HD diesel... what’s the problem?
A diesel engine will pull the load FASTER. Diesel engines are also a LOT heavier than gas engines which cuts into payload. In the real world many gas engine 3/4 ton trucks will tow more weight than their diesel counterparts. Some 1/2 tons will tow more than diesel 3/4 tons. They won't pull the loads as fast, nor as easily up hills, but they handle the weight much better.
I have a friend with an F250 diesel rated to tow 15,000 lbs. But his truck wouldn't pull that load without the rear bumper dragging the ground. Now it would pull it at 85 mph up an incline, but his suspension would be overloaded at 10,000 lbs.
Needed a wider trailer for sure, truck seemed OK I don't think GM HDs require a WDH to get their tow rating although im sure it would of towed better with one.
Not a tow, but still WTF. Snapped this yesterday. My previous vehicle was one of these, no way, no how is that tire not too tall and wide. I measured the space in the front well to fit the biggest tires possible, this is a solid 2" too tall, maybe even 3". Wish I had taken a pic from the front, it had a lot of lean.
Weirder... only on the front right. Not used as if using in a pinch, it's a new wheel and tire.
