Default Does Pro Trailer Backup Assist work with a relocated camera?

Removing tailgate for a slide-in camper. Camera needs to relocate to license plate frame, or above camper door. The new location will be about 18" below stock, or a couple feet above stock. Will backup assist work?

Unlikely. It looks for a sticker in a specific area that it will no longer see. Of course with a slide-in camper, it's almost inconceivable how anyone would be able to tow a trailer also and have sufficient payload to do so.

Camper is just under 900 lbs, and trailer tongue weight will be 150-200

Because you need to plug in measurements to get the backup assist to work properly based on the factory mounting position of the camera I'll go out on a limb and say no.

I'm sure you guys are right, and I probably should have read the set-up instructions before asking. There's probably not an appropriate place on the motorcycle trailer to put a sticker.

If you cannot mount the camera past the rear of the truck, you throw off the equation that is used to determine the required steering angle. However, you can toy with the data you input and see if it gets you close enough.

Stickers goes 7-22" from the ball, I believe. Do you not have enough tongue length for that?

Trailer tongue isn't the problem. If I put the camera on the license plate frame, the angle towards the sticker will be too flat, and the camera might not be able to see it at all. I can probably attach it to the back of the truck, just below the bed height, but that's only a couple inches higher than the lic plate frame. If I put the camera above the camper door, it will be a steep angle down to the sticker well over 4 feet away. That seems like the only option that might work, but the camper don't get delivered for 4 weeks.

I'd buy a second camera. Make easy plug-ins, and mount the second one to your camper if that is your desire.
Personally, I've set-up my TBA, and generally don't have a need for it with simple backing into campspots. That little M/C trailer, I'll bet you manually push around for best / most convenient placement. That said, I hate backing my little utility trailer, and with your camper blocking views and the trailer probably hard to see, the TBA might be a good option.

Have you considered leaving the oem camera in place and adding a second one to the camper? One mounted at the top of the camper can look down over the trailer and see all of the surroundings. You only need a splitter switch to select the input.

No tailgate. The camper extends about 1-2" past the end of the bed. If left on, the tailgate wouldn't be able to close.
