Default Does payload include weight of gas in tank?

My truck's door sticker says combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed 1740. I can't seem to find in the examples in the manual if this includes the weight of fuel. With a 36 gallon tank this in the neighborhood of 220 and wonder if this needs to be subtracted from the useful payload. The examples in the manual don't mention fuel.

The available payload, displayed on the sticker, includes a full tank of gas.

I concur. When I first got my truck I weighed it with me and a nearly full tank. Subtracting my weight and adding in the estimated weight of the missing fuel, it came within a few pounds of the posted payload.

Just want to clarify, the available payload on the sticker is what I have left after having a full tank of fuel?

To find the REAL payload you need to actually weigh the truck. Then subtract the weight from GVWR.

Yes, if there are no add-ons like bed inserts or covers, wheel swaps, all the crap you leave in your truck, etc. For this reason it's best to check by weighing your truck as masrhallr suggested.

On aircraft, payload includes fuel.

That's why I'm trying to make sure I get this correct, I deal with aircraft for work and fuel planning comes into the payload calculations, but I guess not so much with trucks.

I wouldn't worry 'bout it. I fly aircraft over gross all the time.
