Default Different roads, different needs

Just wrapped up a 600 mile ride with about 6,000lbs behind me. I’ve trailed this combo up to Maine many times. That’s very easy, almost flat highways miles. Tow Haul always seemed unnecessary.

But west of Albany there are some serious hills on both the interstates and on back roads from Bainbridge to Cortland. I’d seen these roads before without a trailer. Tried it in Normal, not great. Tow haul was so in its element both uphill and down. Especially braking, with its down shifts approaching corners or traffic lights.

So I’ve gone from a tow haul skeptic to convert.

Got home about 2 weeks ago after I pulled about 4000 lbs from GA up I-95 as far as Acadia NP in Maine. Stayed 2 nights near Gloucester and took a commuter train into Boston. Then across VT, and NH into NY as far as Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Then south through West Virginia and back to GA.Two years ago we did GA to CO and back.

Even with my small trailer I hit tow/haul before leaving the driveway. It came in very useful in West Virginia and even that is nothing compared to some 10,000' passes in CO.

12.3,mpg. That’s pretty typical for this load, speed and road conditions.
Grateful to have 36 gallon tank but it’s annoying as all heck to find a Mass Turnpike gas pump that stop at $75. So I had to double pup.
I’ve taken to using premium whenever I’m towing as well.
