I recently purchased a 2023 F150 with max tow package. The truck does not have the bumper plug with the Smart Connector. Although I do have the wiring for the Smart Connector which is secured and capped to the back side of the bumper.

Should I have received a different bumper plug? Also, should the package have come with the wiring harness for the trailer side?

I’m concerned I won’t get far with the dealer. I’m anticipating being told that I have to buy it since it “wasn’t included” in the max tow package.

This is the harness behind the bumper where I’m assuming would plug into the Smart Connector.

Instead of the smart plug I have the 4-way. Seems silly for a max tow package.

That is crazy. Having Max Tow but no 7 pin plug? It should have come with the plug as it’s part of the package.

Definitely a dealer resolution issue.

 

I do have the 7 flat pin plug located above the 4 pin.

What I’ve found with other f150 owners the Smart Connector should be below the 7 pin instead of the 4 pin. I’ve also seen the smart plug in the driver side bed. I’m assuming this is convenient for owners who’d like to install a fifth wheel hitch.

Mainly, I am asking which plugs come with the max tow package. I do not have the female receiver for the smart plug within the currently installed trailer plug. I only have the 7 pin and 4 pin combo plug.

Mounted behind the current trailer bumper plug, attached to the bumper, is a wiring harness for a smart plug. As shown in above images.

I'm sure you can go to the dealer and get a replacement plug. But I thought Ford dumped the Smart system a while back. Did you get the trailer side electronics or just stickers?

Keep what you have then. I have the smart connector plug, but no trailer end electronics. Got stickers. That started late in the 21 MY builds.
