Cooling tranny
Hi all.
new to forum have a question. Is there a way to put a switch in to manually turn on the radiator fans to keep my tranny fluid cool or is there a way to mount a fan in front of tranny cooler on front of radiator? Only need to turn it on and keep tranny fluid cool while hauling trailer up a grade. Have a 2016 f150 xlt.

It gets up to around 250 ( close to yellow on analog gauge) going up a 6%grade that is about a mile long at 15 mph. I'm thinking not fast enough to get good air flow to keep the fluid cool in the aix cooler in front of radiator

Well for one, does your truck have a towing package? Since you have a 2016, if you have a towing package it will have an external cooler. You could mount a small fan in front of the cooler, just keep in mind it will actually hinder cooling to some extent when on the road towing at normal speeds.
If your truck does not have a factory towing package, you'll want to address that issue.

Yes it has tow package. Just want to see if if someone else has just tied a switch into regular radiator fans that would serve dual purpose of turning on when ecu tells them to and also can be manually turned on when needed before I took off front grill and did a fan mod/install on external trans cooler.

Has anyone tried a deep, aluminum transmission pan? I'm probably going to be the guinea pig for the PB version through PML, will update as required. Also, I'll point out that the exhaust pipes are RIGHT BESIDE the transmission. I wonder how much good an exhaust wrap, at least for the section near the tranny, would do for transmission temps?
