I had a GMC Sierra with very similar power and towing capacity as your F150. My travel trailer that I have is slightly heavier than your projected trailer and load is going to be.
My old truck towed fine except when I hit the hills. Out on the open highway it was fine. Some of the longer hills I would be down to 35 to 40 MPH. I never had any problems towing and I tow up into the Sierras and Rockies.
I just had to drive slower with my old truck than I do with my new F150

FWIW, I had a 2010 4.6L SCAB 4x4 with just the basic factory tow package. I used to pull a 6,000lb skidsteer on a 1,800lb trailer (steel trailer w/ wood decking) roughly 150 miles probably 8-10 times a year. With an extra leaf spring and the load balanced right, the truck towed fine and was of zero concern to me. Was it to the max, yes, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
We all know the trucks can pull more and that in most cases they will handle well up to and over their limits, buts it is not something that we should suggest or brag about having done on a regular basis.

You do relize the truck pulled it fine because you had no problems. Most likely you were an accident waiting to happen that just never found some idiot in a small sedan to do soemthing stupid in front of you.
We all know the trucks can pull more and that in most cases they will handle well up to and over their limits, buts it is not something that we should suggest or brag about having done on a regular basis.

Update: I went for a 20 ft ATC aluminum trailer. Curb weight 1460 lbs. Being a bit less conservative, I probably have about 5000 lbs between car and trailer, plus 150 lbs for winch and hitch and I have 2750 lbs to play with under 7900. So i think with people and tools I will be under 6000 lbs easy. So I will let you know how it all goes . 75% capacity I am hoping is reasonable enough.

When I bough my 2012 F150 I did a lot of research on all aspects of the trucks I was looking at. I also have run an my own auto shop for the last 20 years, so I know a little about what I am talking about!
The front brakes on your F150 are slightly bigger and a better design that an 2003 F350. The rear brakes are nearly the same size as the 2003 F350.
If you are driving your truck while towing with in limits it will be a safe vehicle to tow with!

Pocono is nice, but when you get your rig dialed in for a long haul, plan to come on down here to Daytona and run the Rolex 24 roadcourse.
There are several events this fall, but the best ones are 3-5 Oct (see this link for info - you can run 1, 2, or all 3 days), or one in early Dec (also a 3 day event, but you can run 1, 2, or all 3 at this one as well).

Update
Taken the car to the track 2 times at 2.5 hours each way and the truck seemed fine. No struggling except up one big hill from a dead stop. On the highway it had zero issues staying in a high gear.
