According to that chart 6300 is Max Loaded Trailer Wt. I do have a hitch that I bought and put on myself. Not sure of the specs but when I bought the hitch I knew it was overkill for anything I'd ever want to tow, so hitch is good (I'll double check). I have larger wheels and tires than what it came with.

If properly maintained, the engine is bullet-proof and will probably last over 400,000 miles even with an 80-tow chip. But the 4R100 automagic tranny will need an overhaul at around 100,000 miles. I wanted my pickup to last "forever" so at 112,000 miles with the torque converter beginning to slip, I spent the big bucks to bullet-proof the 4R100 by having it rebuilt by the best in the business, Brian's Truck Shop (BTS). www.brianstruckshop.com

I remember those posts from way back. I can't remember who it was that did the tunes, and sent me a PCM with the 80 HP tune, but it fixed that nasty Shift Flare, though the damage was done. I wanted to put a BTS in, but there was too much rust to deal with, and did not feel like pulling the engine to replace the pan. Great runner though, and would like to have another one. What was the name of that site? Dieselstop, or dieselsite?

The larger diameter tires effectively results in a numerically lower rear axle ratio which reduces the GCWR and lowers the maximum trailer weight that should be towed.

The PAYLOAD usually is the limiting factor, not the rated towing capacity. What the truck can TOW and what it can HAUL are two entirely different things. Whichever limit is reached FIRST is the limiting factor. Usually the PAYLOAD is the limit reached first.

A good guesstimate of maximum loaded trailer weight is:
(Payload - 100 lbs. hitch wt. - weight of all passengers and cargo)/0.13

This assumes that the tongue weight will be 13% of the trailer weight.

Probably Jody Tipton at www.DP-Tuner.com

www.theDieselStop.com. It began as Jason's BBS, then converted to www.Ford-Diesel.com in 1999, then Ford made Jason stop using the Ford-Diesel domain name in 2000 or 2001, so Jason changed it to TheDieselStop.

www.DieselSite.com was another vendor that specialized in aftermarket parts for the 7.3L, and his website is still active selling aftermarket parts for various diesel engines. One part he is well-known for is the 1994-2003 7.3L Dieselsite Adrenaline HPOP

Yes, it was Jody who did the tuning and fixed the transmission lockup. Man that was so long ago now. Pretty sure I had pictures posted of the blown rear end when I hopped the axle and chunked the spider gears. Did both axles from 4:10 to 3:73, and made the truck more efficient.

I found my old posts, and forgot my sig line.
