The only sure way to know is to load the F-150 with everybody and everything that will be in it when hauling the camper. People, pets, tools, but without the a camper. Drive to a truck stop that has a truck scale, fill up with gas, then weigh the wet and loaded F-150. Subtract that weight from the 6,250 GVWR, and the answer is the max weight of anything else you can haul in the truck without being overloaded.
Similar to kbroderick's opinion, my guess is that you don't have anywhere near enough GVWR to have unused payload capacity of 2,500 pounds. My 2012 F-150 SuperCrew 4x2 has GVWR of 7,100 pounds. but less than 1,400 pounds payload capacity.
Realize that an F-150 is a "half-ton" pickup. Half a ton is 1,000 pounds. So my F-150 can haul almost 400 pounds worth of people and stuff in the cab, plus another 1,000 pounds in the bed without being overloaded. If you want to haul heavier than that, then you need more truck than a half-ton pickup.
2003 F-150 axle code 27 = standard open axle with 3.31 ratio . http://auto.answers.com/Q/On_a_03'_F..._the_door_mean

Modifying the suspension with overload springs or overload air springs (air bags) will not increase the GVWR of your F-150. However they can mask the sagging rear end and headlights aiming at the stars symptoms of being overloaded. But rear suspension is not the only components involved in computation of GVWR or the max weight you can haul without being overloaded. Notice on the same sticker with GVWR is rear GAWR, so a big limiter to the max weight you can haul is rear axle weight capacity. Others are frame strength, service brake capacity, and weight capacity of tires and wheels.
