Brake Controller not working
Hi. I installed a new aftermarket controller from E-bay on my 2017 f-150 XLT a week ago. I enabled the two items using forscan. Yesterday I hooked up my 20' travel trailer and the brake wont work. I get a no trailer connected message on the display. I do get a gain readout on the dash when I squeeze the controller. The lights all work on trailer, just no 12v power or power on the blue elec brake wire. I can't detect any braking power while driving.I checked the fuses and all seem to be present and good. I plan to go to the dealer and buy the OEM switch and install that as many have posted may be the problem. Also when programming, I had a third setting, Trailer Brake Module showing disabled. I tried to enable this and get an error writing blocks failed, incompatable configuration? So I had to leave this one disabled.
Any comments what my problem may be? I will post what result I have. Thanks for your help.

Well, today I bought an OEM brake controller from the Ford dealer in Ann Arbor Mich. ( Part # JL3Z-2C006-AA ) I installed it in the dash and it now works. It shows trailer when plugged in, gain on the Bar graph both when you push the pedal and using the manual control. The `12V power pin now powers and charges the trailer battery when the engine is running. It shows trailer disconnected when you unplug it. I will now have to hook up and drive it to calibrate the intensity and gain as the owners manual and as others on this forum describe how to do. Thank you all on this forum for the info provided.
The moderators should post a sticky to count how many folks have had issues with 3rd party brake controllers that were resolved 100% when they bought the OEM.
