Default boxlink vs e-track?

Are boxlink and e-track identical? Meaning, can I just use e-track stuff with the boxlink plates that came in my '16 f150?

I thought they were the same, so I bought these:
Amazon Amazon
to use...just tried to pop them in and found them to be slightly larger than it appear will fit in my boxlink plates...so I figure one of a few things is happening..
1. I bought a crap product built to the wrong specifications
2. I bought the wrong product
3. I am clearly not understanding how to install a bracket into the plate in my truck
4. Boxlink and e-track are very similar, but slightly different, and so I need to buy new plates for e-track to attach to the bed of my truck replacing the boxlink plates

I've got the e-track style pieces that hold a 2x4 across the bed...and they don't fit snugly in the boxlink (at least the ones I got from amazon don't). It's not optimal given my intended use and allows the 2x4 to rotate. If e-trailer makes plates that will bolt to the boxlink locations, I think that offers the best variety of capability.

I have some e-track ratchet straps and D-ring items I bought from harbor freight and amazon that seem to work fine for me. They are somewhat loose but once they are cinched they seem perfect.

It seems the E-Track hardware varies depending on where they come from. I have E-Track in my trailer and some fit tight, some loose. The 2x4 holders needed a screw to keep them from wiggling. I also found the boxlink varies. The ones in my 16 slipped right in, but I had to pound them in on the 18.
