Default Boat towing

Own a 16 ecobost 2.7 with 3.73 diff and trailer backup and brake.
I have 2” level kit and plan to tow a boat that is 3300lbs , 22 ft and trailer is two axle 1500 lbs.
5 members in family and we all are under 800 lbs combined .
question is should I get air levelers or load distribution hitch. Truck sits level and I really like how it sits when not towing.

BTW the sticker says 1500# max

You will not want or need a weight distribution hitch. It will sag a bit obviously when you fill it and add 300 lbs tongue and a couple coolers, lol. How much, depends on how much beverages you take. All I can say is, if it sags more than you like, add air bags. Everything has it's consequences, that's why I left my 2" rake as it was designed.

Default Thanks

So you saying for my need a dist hitch not needed and I could use some air bags instead to level ?
Stuff I may carry could be stoves in the boat ( most of it)
what did you mean by 300# tongue ?

I don't think you will need a dist hitch. That is really not that much weight you are pulling, and boats pull much nicer than travel trailers. #300 tongue weight, is what I suspect your tongue or hitch coupler on the trailer will weigh and drop onto the back of the truck. Usually it is about 10% on boats, and since yours has dual tires, it should tow nicely. Big assumption here: your boat for sure weighs 3300# ? I also assume that since it has brake controller and back-up (pro backup assist?), it has the mid level tow package. It all is about the payload and what makes the truck squat, and takes away from that 1500# you say the yellow sticker in your door says. So 800 + 300 = 1100 lbs. Nobody ever estimates accurately, so guess 1200#. That means you can put 300#s in the bed or front of your boat. Now, you can start getting fancy and place the larger coolers and stuff above axles and then it doesn't hurt your payload as much because it doesn't affect the tongue weight as much. You will hear people that go to Cat scales to really get good actual numbers when they feel they are close.
Good for you to start educating yourself on all this, it really helps that you understand everything like you are doing

I will leave the air bag question alone, personally I am not a fan of them, someone else with actual experience can advise on that.

you don want to use a weight distributing hitch pulling a boat. its overkill, and the way the tongue on boat trailers are designed, weight carrying hitches actually put less strain on the tongue. you should have no problems as that boat is well within your truckś limits

Default Ok

Makes me more comfortable to read this. Thanks for the advice. If vehicle squats a little, would there be any harm in adding airbags to provide slight push to rear? I really don’t want to remove the bilstein setup and like how it rides unloaded most of the times

Load it up and see how it goes, loaded. Then decide what (if an) action you want to do. Personally, I think you will be fine. A slight squat should be expected when loaded as you will, hence why Ford started out putting a 2" rake on the rear.

I pull a boat about the same size as yours, and unless I really have stuff loaded into the truck bed and the boat (e.g., heading up to Canada for a couple weeks), there is no noticeable squat. There might be a bit less rake with the boat attached, but not even close to needing airbags.
