Awesome towing ability
I have a 2013 xcab ecoboost w/ 3.55 gears. This weekend I made 3 trips hauling an overloaded dump trailer 7500 lbs. to be exact, and it did it with smiles on my face. I reset the mpg before the tow just to see on a hilly 20 mile trip to the dump site and the worst it did was 14.8 mpg. Amazing to me.
I have a smile on my face every time I hook up my 7600# 32-ft travel trailer and yank it up steep grades with the cruise set at 60mph while passing Silverados and other late model Ford's in the process...
I turned in a very poor 32L/100Km yesterday driving into a 40 Km/H head wind and thru hilly terrain. I guess I could have driven slower but 110Kmh just seems like a good cruising speed. 28 foot trailer at 7600 pounds . I love the power thou

Ya, that would cut into the mileage. I'm not surprised at your 7.35 mpgUS.
The worst I've seen is 27.1L/100km or 8.7 mpgUS, and that too was against strong headwinds but only at 100km/hr (62 mph).
Don't forget the three stops along the high way to let the kids pee. I am sure having to go from 0 to merging on the highway can't help.
