Anderson WD hitch
Does anybody have experience with this hitch. We're thinking about getting a new travel trailer (a big one, almost 38' - 11,000 gvw - 1150 advertised tongue wt.). I'm wondering how the elastomer springs hold up, and also about the longevity of the friction sleeve. It sure looks nice from the standpoint of easy hitching/unhitching.
P.S. This is NOT going behind a 150! We have a 350/6.7 Powerstroke with a 2.5" hitch rated at #16,000/1600 in WD mode.

Funny but I was just speaking with Anderson about their Canadian retailers for this hitch...he gave me a list of little guys but failed to mention the biggest retailer in the country.

I currently have the Andersen WDH system. I love it! My only complaint is that it does not distribute enough weight back to the front axles. My trailer is 7400 lbs loaded, with a tongue of around 900 lbs. The Andersen is not strong enough to force the proper amount of weight back to the front axle. It does transfer some, just not enough.
Since you are pulling with a heavier truck, you shouldn't have to transfer as much weight to the front as my little F150. It should work well for you.
Now on to the best part about this hitch. It's sway control is unmatched. I have been hit by some HUGE side gusts and the trailer has never once had a chance to sway. It is unbelievable.
It is also dead quiet, no creaking or groaning. Very fast and simple to set up as well.
I would suggest the Andersen, just from my personal experience.

Thank you ! I was arriving at the same conclusion, that weight distribution was its weak link. I think if I got the HD version and could send 300lb. forward I'd be good.

Since weight transfer is the primary duty of a WD hitch I'd suggest that this is a serious shortcoming. Beware if you have a trailer on the larger side.
