Am I crazy
Have a 2012 platinum screw eco 5.5 with 3.73 max tow and looking to upgrade from travel trailer to fifth wheel. Found the trailer that I want 32 foot dry weight 8780lb. Pin 1380lb. Would really like some feedback both good and bad. Possibly from some people who are pulling fivers that are approx same weights. Thanks.

The way I understand it platinums have very low payload capacities. That is probably going to be too much trailer. I would probably pull it with my XLT but you will probably be way overweight
|
I have herd many people say that. But I have 1539 payload.

Hopefully you and all of your passengers/cargo weighs less then 159 lbs.

You don't have enough payload. And don't listen to the guys who overload their truck and then try to get you to do the same.
That pin weight is DRY weight. Wet (loaded) weight will be more. Then the weight of your hitch, family, etc. Your payload is insufficient. |

maybe when I was 13 lol. I understand I will be a few hundred pounds overweight. Just lookin for people that have pulled this similar setup and how it pulled and how they felt pulling it also of they have had any vehicle issues related to pulling something like that trailer.
Thats not a few hundred pounds...that tongue weight is dry. I am gonna go out on a limb and guess that the GVWR for the trailer is 11,000lbs, with that weight you would have a tongue weight of 1727 that leave you 188lbs overloaded before you even get in the truck. Plus the 1539lb payload on your sticker doesn't account for anything else you have added to the truck like a bed cover, toolbox, etc. My guess is you will be closer to 550-600 lbs overloaded when you get ready to roll. 100-200lbs is ok IMHO but not 500+...you are in SuperDuty territory with that trailer. |
In the business I am in 500lb over doesn't seem to bad. It's nothin for me to have over 4000lb of weight in the box of a one ton in the winter time. I would definity have 10 ply tires as well as airbags or super springs.
