This accident, which ended with no significant injuries (except perhaps to pride) is a great example of:
1) Always ensuring that you have the proper safety chains and that they are properly hooked on to your vehicle.
2) Make sure you're not exceeding your vehicle's limitations. This was an F-350 towing a 30 foot camper. The hitch on that F-350 is rated higher than that on an F-150, and therefore MAY be why the safety chains were able to continue to hold the vehicle suspended over the bridge without the hitch totally failing. You can see the drive shaft is bent, and the right rear leaf spring has broken free. It appears that the only thing holding the vehicle initially is the hitch, and then reinforcing chains were added to the axle, which is still attached to the left leaf spring.
It will be interesting to see what determination is made for the reason for the crash. Hopefully all can learn from their findings.

I was wondering how long it would be before the tow police showed up puffing their chests and saying "good thing they were using a F350"
The reports I've seen are a mixture of getting pushed off the road by a semi and the driver fell asleep but regardless the people who were driving this are very lucky to be alive.
