Default 4/7 way, brake controller questions

Hi guys/gals
I just purchased a 2018 F-150 XLT Crewcab. It came with an after market receiver, rated at 5,000lbs and a factory 4 way plug. No tow package. I plan on installing a Curt T-Connector 7 way plug/harness and a Tekonsha Primus IQ Proportional brake controller. My trailer is is under 4000lbs, so I am not worried about towing capabilities.
I have been reading lots of posts on here about these set ups and there is lots of good/bad information.
I just have a couple questions with my set up.
1. Will I need any programing from ford after I install my aftermarket brake controller? I see on my dash display there is a towing mode.
2. Will I require any relays or fuses for my 7way plug to work?
Thanks for any info

No programming needed for an aftermarket controller. The factory setup ties into all the various systems, so that’s the programming there.

Shouldn’t need any extra relays, either. All your lighting is tied to the corresponding truck circuits. If it’s anything remotely like my ‘03, extra relays went for trailer charge and trailer reverse lights and that’s a rare need.

"Tow Mode" adjusts shift points in the transmission and has nothing to do with the brake controller. It is set using the mode selector "D/M" on the shifter.

Have you already purchased the Tekonsha? Ford's ITBC is a lot better, and doesn't cost much more. Modulates the trailer brakes to kill sway, reduces trailer brake output when ABS kicks in so you don't jack-knife.
