It all comes down to research. If you're going to spend this kind of money on a vehicle, you'd better inform yourself. The internet is your friend and everyone has access to it. Dealers have one goal in mind, to sell you what they have on the lot.

I hope you get your truck issues resolved.

I'm pretty certain there are things that are a lot more important to know about operating the M1 than whether you are over capacity, or if the motor pool can weld on a pintle so you can drag along a water bull.

I hate to say it but in a way the salesman is right.

I've been through this with Ford since 2018 repeatedly.

1. Ford does not release a separate GCWR for the 53B so I have the same GCWR as the 53A.

2. Ford complies with SAE J2807.

3. SAE defines Tow Rating as GCWR minus TVTW (Tow Vehicle Total Weight).

Ford's official position is my GCWR is 16100 my Tow Rating is 7000 lb and they comply with J2807 however that is a physical impossibility.

Not my truck but the only physical difference I can find between a RCSB XL100A 2.7EB with 53A and 53B is the window sticker.

Both have the solid front swaybar, oil cooler, same radiator, same trans cooler, no Pro Driver Backup Assist and no Trailer Hookup LED.

Step up to the 'HD' package, you start seeing cooling and/or stability enhancements.

The limit is 5000lb per the RV and Towing guide for 2020.
5000 lb Limit is the bumper truck.
53B is still 6,000 or 7,000 depending on engine (Except 3.3L 3.55 which is limited by GCWR).

Apparently Ford is still hiring high school students to update it's documentation.

The "rated tow capacity" is the last thing you should look at when determining what you can actually tow.

If you want to tow a trailer with a 10,500lb GRoss weight rating, I would advise you to move up the food chain to a f350 which with its bigger brakes, frame etc is far better specified for the job of towing that kind of weight.

Yes on paper the f150 can tow those numbers, but only when equipped in a certain way with minimal options

I have the truck in my signature below. It has the max tow package and 7,000 GVWR. I pull a 32ft travel trailer that has a GVWR of 9,175lbs. Its current weight is around 8,200lbs by the CAT scale. I am "in the box" with all of my legal limits. My truck handles this trailer well using a properly setup weight distribution hitch. Having said that, I wouldn't want anything heavier or larger for this truck. If I knew that I was going to be pulling a load of over 10,000lbs frequently, then I would purchase at least an F-250.

My 2 cents.

Not really, should the 6.7L diesel option, which gets enticing when you go to a "big truck" is added you could pretty much be where you started with an F150. How many have you seen exclaim just that after they get themselves that big fifth wheel? How many have you seen exclaim just that after the big fifth wheel and say F*** IT I got a Superduty. So going in with as much information and education helps. It hit home for me when I started looking at hitches which fortunately was before I got my truck. The B&W site has a simple and easy to use calculation sheet that smacks you in the face as long as you put in real world numbers.

Deuce and a half refers to G-508 Jimmy's or RMC M34/M35 6x6 military trucks with 5000lb payloads. You're in F450 territory, and pretty far into the far end for max for 5th TT weights.
