Default 2017 Brake Controller Question

I have a 2017 3.5 with the towing package (not the max tow), so I'm lacking the brake controller. I just purchased a new travel trailer from an RV dealer that is a spinoff from a local Ford dealership. They installed a brake controller for me, but it is a aftermarket controller.

My question is, why would they not offer to install the factory brake controller from Ford? I would prefer to have it in that hole in the dash where it's supposed to be, also I've seen video of the controller being used, it looks like the factory controller integrates with the dashboard information screen. Am I losing the integration by having an aftermarket controller? Is there a reason you would prefer an aftermarket controller as opposed to the one from the factory?

I'm contemplating to tell them to take this aftermarket model out and put the factory controller in. Thanks for your input!

There is a factory controller that is an option. It's usually mounted under the 4x4 switch. Otherwise it's just a place to put your change if it didn't come with it. The factory system is much better than aftermarket and it works more precise. I have used both and I will make sure I'll order my each new truck from now on with it. You could have ordered the factory brake controller switch from the dealer or fordpartsonline.com, and you pop that change thing out and the wires are there and it plugs in. You need forscan software to program it and you can dI it yourself if you're good with computers or have the dealer do it.

Yes, it integrates with the truck, and yours does not.
