It has never hunted for gears and I have never locked out any gears, no gear hunting. I use tow-haul religiously and it puts me in 6th gear most of the time I'm on flat roads - 6th gear becomes a somewhat rare thing with a good headwind. The worst mileage ever was 10.8 and the best was 11.5 (courtesy of the lie-o-meter).

I'm happy with the performance.
