Default 2010 Ford F-150 Tow/Haul option

I'm new to this forum as well as to the Tow/Haul option on my recently purchased 2010 Ford F-150 V8 4.6L. I was hoping someone could educate me on if I should use T/H when my 1200 lb. pickup camper is sitting in the bed of the truck, and if so, under what conditions (hills, flat)? I want to ensure my transmission stays healthy.

I've read through older forum discussions on the matter but I haven't found any that address my specific truck specs & pickup camper.

Thanks in advance for all your advice.

I would consider 1200lbs in the bed of an F150 "hauling", so yup enable tow haul mode. It will change the transmission shift points to keep you in the power band longer, also will help /w engine braking. This of course will be at the expense of gas mpg, but gotta pay to play.

1200lbs in a 2010 seems like a lot, whats the payload rating on the truck, just curious.

Default Payload

Thank you Jeff for your feedback.
I'm not sure how to figure the payload.
GVWR is 6850
Rear GAWR is 3800
Front GAWR is 3300
Curb weight is: (according to a search i preformed)
front 2976, 2862
Rear 2127, 1951
Not sure what the 2 numbers represent.
I would greatly appreciate anyone's input on these numbers.
Addition: the camper is 1100 empty. I probably have 100 lbs. of stuff in it.

You can't really base curb weight or payload off a google search, each truck's weight varies depending on options. Should be a big yellow sticker on the driver's door jam that reads total weight of all occupants and cargo should never exceed xxxx lbs. That's the magic number you should not go over. Payload is GVWR - Curb Weight of the truck but looking at the sticker is easier than driving a truck to a scale.

Hope that helps.

No yellow sticker, just a white one with the numbers mentioned.
Search was done with Vin number.

Default Found it

It was not on the door next to the other sticker. It was on the frame.
Says it should not exceed 1985 lbs.
That means I should be good, right?
