Default '16 downhill towing T/H mode too aggressive

Have a '16 5.0 super cab 4x4. When I tow my 14' utility trailer loaded with my sxs, and I'm going down any type of small hill while in TH mode, my truck will down shift way to far. In particular, going down a hill at around 40mph in 5th I start to brake before entering a curve. Truck down shifts to 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and then 1st while doing about 25mph. Motor screaming above 5000rpm. Way too aggressive. It would have been fine in just 3rd gear. I didn't hit the brakes hard to cause it to shift so quickly. Just light pressure on pedal. This has happened on numerous hills. My load is around 3000 lbs. My trailer brakes are good. My brake controller is set at 5.0 and intensity at medium. I'm tow knowledgeable, and have my trailer set up correctly. Even when I'm in Sport mode and not pulling a trailer, my downshifts are crazy aggressive. Haven't spoke to dealer yet, but might there be a computer flash they can do to change the TH settings?

I lock out 5/6...leave in normal when i tow my 2 atvs....anything over the 5000 mark i use the tow haul for the engine brake and load for the shift points of transmission...
As for dealer....have to go see....but i doulbt it on programming...

Change to the low setting under braking and see if that does it. I tow my 6 x 12 enclosed, which doesn't have brakes, and T/H downshifts to help slow it down, but nothing as severe as what yours does. I have mine set to the least aggressive.

Don't use the T/H unless you have more weight. Not needed going up or down with that trailer. With a heavy load it isn't over aggressive.

Does the connection of a trailer with trailer brakes change the way the transmission shifts down?

I use this feature often on steep grades, or with my small utility trailer (without brakes). It usually only drops a gear with each press of the brake petal, until I get real slow, and then it aggressively starts automatically dropping gears down through 1st. It has taught me to just bump it out of tow/haul and sport before coming to a complete stop if I don't want the aggressive stopping.

After owning a 2001 Ranger that would free wheel down mountains at under 45 MPH, I'm just happy I have a transmission that holds me back.

I can attest to this. 6k+ it's not too aggressive, it helps a lot.
