Hope you find something soon brother, non weld pipe company sounds interesting. I'm a welder by trade so that would be neat to see how that's done.

Well Thursday didn't go as planned. Got turned down by the crane company looking at me for being a lift planner, however that same day I set up two interviews on Friday. Both interviews seemed to go well, both as a lift planner for competing rigging companies. One will likely be a fairly low offer, but they're literally 7 minutes from my house. The other is about 20 minutes away, so neither is very far. Both told me I would hear something by Wednesday this week, and both have immediate openings. So, hopefully something soon. Mobile Toys is having a 15% off sale today on their boxes that I can't take advantage of, and a friend knows a guy selling an old Malibu for $50 that would be fun to scoop up. But I need a job to free up any money. Tax return is filed and is coming in around $2,400, but is planned to be spent on siding for the house since it's starting to rot.

As far as the non welded connections, they flange both pipes, place gaskets between them, and have bolted brackets on each pipe. Makes it simple because you don't have to worry about the flange being rotated exactly right for the bolt holes to line up. They typically do low pressure systems, but can go up to 3,000psi. It's a neat deal.

Not good to hear on that one company, hopefully one of the others will pick you up, maybe offers from both so YOU can choose.
Those nonwelded connections, sounds like Victaulic or Dresser?

Nope, but life goes on. So one of the companies (Bishop Lifting or Chart-Ur-Bar), Bishop Lifting extended an offer about an hour ago. $70,000/year which is a nice increase from the $66 I was making before. Not crazy more, but it's more. Sucky part is it's the number I asked for, so I may have been able to get more had I asked for more. Lol. No telling. I'm giving it a day or two for CUB to decide if they'll extend an offer or not before I accept. Oddly, the offer didn't include the start date, say how much PTO I'd be eligible for, define the 401k package, or give any info about the insurance. I've got an email out to the HR manager asking for info on all of that.

It was a smaller company called GS Hydro.

Ya, no telling what they may have offered, but 70K ain't bad. It's been 13 years since I was in that category, so my outlook may be flawed, plus I was in a different geographic location.
What is PTO?

Not bad at all. More is usually better, but after being used to around $66 and living comfortably, $70 will be even better. My friends and I share what we make so we know if we're getting a good offer or not. Plus I'm the only one that has bought a house so they all ask house related questions. Lol. I've been making $1500-$6000 more than most of them, so I've been happy with the salaries I've been making.

Personal Time Off/Paid Time Off. This company wraps their personal days, sick days, and vacation all into one category from the sound of things. Main thing too is I am in a VERY different situation than my parents were in at my age, so that makes them and me feel good that their/my hard work has paid off.

Damn! Congrats that has to be a huge weight lifted off your shoulders. Give the other company until Wednesday and pick the better of the two of you can!

I think he meant like "what is PTO" as in it's a myth and we never get it hahahaha. Regardless you're doing really well man! Keep your head up!

I'm definitely more relaxed now. And that's the plan! A friend told me about a Malibu his friend is selling in College Station. It's got a cracked manifold and is overheating. Scrap metal place told him they'd give him a gift card to a restaurant. My friend said I could get it for $50. Seems like it'd be an easy fix, then could be a daily/project car to flip. I'm checking more into it.

Haha. Maybe. I rarely take time off. Although I will be in June because I'm going to Florida with my family. Thanks bud!

Not sure. That's some of the info I'm waiting to hear about. When he mentioned it it was mostly a joke about a demolition drag car for Cleetus and Cars in October. He just had an event on Saturday which was sick. At the point I didn't have an offer so I wasn't interested. Now I have an offer, so $50 on a car isn't out of the question. Lol.

If you're not familiar with Cleetus or demolition drag racing, Cleetus is a Youtuber from Florida, and demo drag racing is these old junk cars that they race down a track. To have a qualifying pass you have to hit your opponent at least one time. Lol
