Summers22 STX Lightning Blue build
#4511
Well I'll be......it worked. I measure the 3rd brake light, 17 1/8" wide at the bottom, width from bottom to top is 2 3/4". I enlarged the template using a Esty sellers ad, then traced out about a 10" section that was 2 3/4" tall right off my computer screeen, did that for both right and left sides, then slid them together to get it at 17 1/8". Only problem was the bolt hole measurements didn't line up. Thats okay though, I will cut them out once the overlay is in place. So I taped the templated over some red vinyl I had from my taillights, then cut it out. Placed the very scientific overlay over my 3rd brake light and it fit like a glove! So after peeling off the backing, I actually have 2 templates. The only issue will be the little wing things on the top sides, but I will get to that bridge when I install the actual LineX tint. I am thinking of making those cuts a little larger and trimming after install. But for now, I am happy with the progress.

You got some stuff done today, all looks great. I want to see that wrap job, I know you're much better at it than me.

My universal sheet from LaminX is 12" x 24" so I should have at least 3 if not 4 shots at a perfect overlay for the 3rd brake. I am pretty sure the tails will be easy with a little water mist. I have their foglight overlays and it is very forgiving and workable with some heat. Problem is next to no reviews for the 13th gen F150s for anything LaminX related.

I know when I initially tried my tails, I screwed it up royally. I did use Laminix on my fogs on both trucks, and had zero trouble.

Oh, I bet it was, sorta hard to heat and pull when you don't have anything holding them.

A very productive day. That Built Right dash mount is a keeper. Matt comes up with some very nice high quality designs. Great progress on the brake light wrap too. I don't have that kind of patience.

I think i'm still trying to work out what this brake light wrap is....

Just to tint the 3rd brake light with LaminX film. LaminX does not have a precut kit, so I copied the idea from a seller that gets horrible reviews everywhere, lol. I am making a template out of paper as to not waste any LaminX material, because it is not cheap. They do make a precut taillight kit, which I have waiting to go on as well.
