Default STEFAN's Lightly Modified STX

Just brought home my first new vehicle ever, a 2020 SuperCrew STX 4x4 with the 6.5' Bed, 3.5L EcoBoost and Max Tow package. Finally upgraded from my 2005 Tacoma, which served me well for the time, but it was time to go bigger. Found a deal I couldn't say no to and since I hate chrome, the STX package was a the cherry on top. Being a new truck, I wanted to keep it pretty light on the medications...for now. We will see how long that will last. I am starting with a few mods that were absolutely necessary and a few just for fun. When I had the Tacoma I wanted to modify every thing I possibly could, but the mod bug died off once I realized I was over the tacoma and wanted to go Full-Size. And it's been all of three days with the Ford and the bug is already back. I hope to keep this up to date with everything I do, but I wouldn't expect much. I am trying to keep this one low-key...again, for now.

RHINO 3/4" D-Shackle (red)
RCI Engine Skid Plate - black powdercoated steel

ON THE WAY:
Dual Exit Cat-back Exhaust - stainless steel rear exit

Black Housing Third Brake Light

I plan to get some bigger/better tires once I complete my cross country towing trip and possibly swap in some bronze Methods but the STX wheels look real good. I am just not the biggest fan of 20" wheels on trucks meant to go off-road. I swore I would only level it but the more and more I see 4-6" lifted screw6.5 trucks, the more and more it just looks SO right. Plan is for aftermarket off-road bumpers and RCI skids and some more lighting but nothing crazy for now. Intend to make it the perfect truck to bolt the RTT on, toss in the camping bins and go out in the wilderness for a few days.

STX trucks are cool and I’m a fan of the 6.5’ bed. Congrats on the new truck!

Nice! We'll see if it stays low key. I vote likely not.

Got the new RONIN antenna and DEEZEE tailgate assist in the mail today. Probably with one day shipping is when anything takes longer than a day I get super antsy. Waiting for the other stuff to come in but truck is officially not completely stock. @johnday in BFE You are probably right, but I am going to try as I might.

DEEZEE went on super easily, just followed the directions they provided. Seems to work just fine, and I have heard great things, we will see how it it holds up. The short antenna seems really cool, good metal construction. I haven't used FM/AM radio for the past few years in my truck so I wasn't too worried about the reception, but I shall give it a try to see if it works well. Hopefully the big stuff comes in soon.

I already added a WESTIN rubber bed mat to the incoming list.

As I type, currently have a few things in the mail/ordered that will kick off the modifications:

The big ones:
FOX 2.0 Performance Coilovers (2" level setting) and Rear Shocks
ADARAC M-Series Aluminum Bed Rack (matte black) - for the TEPUI RTT from the Tacoma days, I plan on using on my cross-country road trip in a couple months
LINE-X Bed Spray (appointment for next week to get it sprayed)

A few smaller ones:
RONIN FACTORY 4" Shorty Antenna (black)
DEEZEE Tailgate Assist Shock
AVS Low-Profile Window Visors (matte black)
CUSTOM AUTO WORKS Raptor-Style Grille Lights for STX Grille
Hill Descent Control Switch and OBDLink Adapter (made the mistake of finding the FORSCAN thread, and I'm already falling deep)

And that is it for now, I swear. I know I ordered everything yesterday but I am already anxiously waiting for the delivery man.

hey brotha! i'm a guy with a tacoma and my dad has an f150.. glad to see u on here! maybe you can help out with what im' kinda dealing with. dad has a 2018 F150 STX black looking for a father's day gift for him.
was thinking about the raptor style grill color grill but am not sure and wondering on the black vs gray look. It would be a Father’s Day gift for my dad and I had originally thought the Gunmetal or gray look might be nice to not be as dark and differentiate it some. But then I wonder if it might clash more with the rest of the black look of the truck.

@prone2xl Here is a random picture I happened to stumble upon on reddit shortly after reading your post. While I am very much of a form follows function kind of guy, I do like things to flow and look good together, if possible. I would probably go with the black grille surround to match the black of the truck. Unless there are other gunmetal grey parts on the truck then it might look a little out of place. This magnetic grey is really growing on me. I was pretty ambivalent about the truck color when I went to buy it, I was focused on the features. But I love that I ended up with the grey.

Here are the AVS low-profile window visors installed. Just super sticky auto 3M tape attaching them to the outside. Pretty functional but I think the matte black goes well with the black plastic of the truck. Time will tell how well they hold up.

Finally got the LINE-X bedliner installed today, and then immediately went to work helping someone move, the storage unit was literally right across the street from his storage unit. Amazing how much you can easily fit in these trucks. The dealership gave me a Ranger loaner for the day, and while it seemed well put together and fun to drive, it felt so dang small coming from the F150. No way I could have lived with that, it felt like a big car, not a truck. LINE-X took the liberty of putting the first sticker on the truck...which was promptly taken off. The OBDLink MX with Bluetooth and brushed aluminum american flag license plate holder came in the mail as well so I tossed those on. The FORSCAN tweaks will come shortly once I break out my old android phone.

Also received a Westin rubber bed mat but it was pretty beat up in the package so I will be returning that and getting a new one.
