SMJx's 2013 Limited build!
#22
So in typical fashion, the farther you dig into something the more stuff you find wrong. Shop found some more things wrong, so here's a collective list of everything being replaced.
General:
Vaccum actuator line for IWE's since it dry-rotted and was non existent
Swaybar endlinks
Swaybar bushings
Front end:
Front diff was leaking - new valvoline synthetic fluids + resealed
Both front axle seals replaced
Both front CV axles (both side boots torn) , driver side sprayed grease all over the frame, passenger side started to crack.
Upper control arms (both bad)
Lower control arms (Both lower ball joints bad)
Front struts to bilstein 5100s w/ new top hats, bushings, nuts, etc. only thing being reused is coil and perch.
Exhaust related:
Both exhaust manifolds to BD diesel kit (both sides were leaking bad at the back stud, no studs were broke and none broke on removal)
Every nut,bolt,gasket related to turbos
New front upstream 02 sensors, both old ones stripped in the factory downpipe
SPD turbo adapters
SPD catted down pipes
SPD GX catback
Motor:
CVF Atlas intercooler
Turbosmart BOV
Fresh coolant
Fresh liquimoly 5w40 oil + FL500S filter
New serpentine belts
New 3 bolt water pump, since it had old 4 bolt design still.
New vaccum pump (old one was leaking bad)
New valve covers (passenger side somehow was cracked and leaking oil by vaccum pump)
Driver side turbo obviously had a rough life and was dropped, being replaced. Was also leaking oil.
Dorman turbo coolant lines, both sides
Trans:
New transmission pan gasket / new fluids (gasket was leaking)
Transmission filter (figured worth for 20$ filter while it was apart)
Anyways enjoy some pictures of the dropped turbo that came off, my guess is someone either dropped it prior or it had come out of a wrecked truck. Shop told me the driver side looked like it had been apart before because the way the lines were ran and obviously the dented turbo. In other news, the top end of the motor looks ridiculously good for having 230k miles on it.

So yesterday was not very ideal by any means.
Picked up the truck from show and with my luck got halfway home and truck started smelling super bad like fuel. Pulled up to a stoplight with an accident in the intersection, cop runs over and tells me something is pouring out of truck. I pull over at the next turn off, turns out it blew the fuel line off the high pressure fuel pump.
Thankfully it didn't catch on fire, wasn't the mechanics fault as the clip was more than likely dry rotted like every other connector on the truck.
Mechanics came by with some fuel line clips and the trailer incase and we were able to get something to hold to make it home.
Went to Napa this morning and was able to find a very similar clip, since ford only wants to sell the fuel line as a complete assembly with the clip for 152$ + shipping and a 3 week wait to get one.
The part number I used for the clip is in the photos. Just know the clip has to be sanded a little bit on both sides to make it a hair more narrow and it fits in there pretty well and I went and did a few pulls with it and have had 0 issues.
Today also I got it in for an alignment so it drives straight again after all the suspension work, had time to get my morimoto mirror lights, license plate lights, and foglights in the truck. Also removed the limited badging from the bed, undecided if i'll leave it off or get a black set.
Finally my other badge pieces showed up so those went on the truck too today.

Wheels finally showed up today! Need to get them rebalanced im sure, but for the time they're on! Don't mind the missing grille, it had to get repainted. Hopefully will have that back tomorrow.
Wheels are Vossen Hf6-2 in grey w/ Ridge grapplers in a 275/60r20.
Pretty happy I was able to scoop these up for 900$ shipped considering it's a 4000$ setup. The ridge grapplers are all 13/32 tread so very happy with near brand new tires. Much better than the platinum wheels and tires that were near bald.

Looking forward!
On keeping up with this thread brotha!
About 6 months ago, got me into this 2013 Limited as well. I tried not doing too many mods on it but looks like I’ll be keeping it longer than expected. So time to start doing some preventative maintenance, I picked mine up with 60k miles and now has 84k.. it runs like a champ tho. Replaced vacuum pump a couple weeks ago but still having some leaks down there, going to take it to a buddy to see if anything major needs to get replaced but with paying for school, I won’t be maintenancing as thorough as you have. I do see myself getting an exhaust system soon, last 2016 limited I had had Borla atak and that sounded great. No borla atak for our model and came across the SPD turbo whistle package which is what brought me to your thread when I searched SPD.
2016 limited I traded in last year,
2018 X5 35D I rocked and tried modding but you know BMW, sensitive AF,
so I just got back into a truck but with school, decided to go with something older but still my taste.
No level
2.5 Level Puck
Icon coils replacing puck, should have just skipped the puck, had it for like 2 weeks..
Rocked some 305s on the 22s but too heavy for my off-road taste.
So rocking some 18s for now. Wanting to get 285/75/18s early next year. I just love the 3:73s gears these trucks have
I need to go find my old build thread and update it now that I think about it lol
Happy Thanksgiving All!

Had to re read that the truck has 230k. Doesn’t look it at all.

Happy thanksgiving to you too man! Nice truck! Yeah after having it back for about a week with the exhaust I can say a few things. At 75mph there is no drone and it is VERY quiet, definitely louder than stock but tolerable. The break in on it, it will smell terrible but I think this is most new exhaust. Overall it's probably the deepest sounding ecoboost exhaust and I really enjoy it. It's not like my mustang but I do love the turbo whistle and it's not raspy , so overall I am very happy with it an would recommend it.
Truck is currently getting looked at, after replacing vacuum pump, which was diagnosed as the reason my turbo kept smoking from leaking coolant. Looks like it’s the valve cover, going to replace it and look into the coming parts. I’m thinking: exhaust manifolds, and everything I guess in the spd turbo kit. I may get the corsa exhaust and separate the down pipes and other parts. Ima rock these turbos for a while, don’t want to get a tune anytime too soon but when I do, I’ll def budget some upgraded turbos.
There’s the leaky valve cover.
