I've got an old pen type. Are you guys using lead free or leaded? Also my led project is gonna be on hold for a while now. I gotta retake a couple classes over summer that's gonna cost me about $800 and won't allow time to have a job. So there goes my fun project.

I'm not sure what the lead content on it is, but it's the rosin core solder in the yellow tube I've seen all around, works better than anything else I've used.

dang that sucks. I use leaded. lead is more dense and makes a good connection, but doesn't crack and break as easily.

Flux works really good on some wires, I always either use rosin core or flux or a mixture

The only problem I've had was the fact that this solder likes a clean surface. If the pads on the strips aren't scraped bare it doesn't like to stay.

The strips aren't very good looking to be exposed. This would be a much better option for your rack since it has the exact same functions as your stock 3rd brake light!!
